Flower Travellin’ Band - The Revival

These Japanese psych-rock icons have ensured their place as true survivors of the tempestuous late 60’s and early 70’s. Trailblazers of metal-laced acid-rock from The Land Of The Rising Sun, reunited, the legacy of these elder-statesmen precedes them. Vocalist Akira, looking like a rasta-Damo Suzuki fronted a performance of skilled musicianship, an eclectic style seamlessly meshing Hawkwind, The Grateful Dead, and Amon Duul II, venturing into prog, Krautrock, and ska. The band are able to intersperse the spirit of rock pioneers, Guitarist Hideki Ishima straddles Mark Knopfler, John Cipollina, and Eric Clapton; keyboardist Nobuhiko Shinohara infuses Roger Glover and Donald Fagen, collectively dazzling with a sense of authority, virtuosity and spirituality. Reiterating their status as influencing a generation of noise-crazed sonic-travellers, The Flower Travellin’ Band departed Toronto with a peak performance, where the aural journey continues.
